Webinar: Law Enforcement Use of Digital Evidence

Do you know what FLOCK, ALPRs, open source investigations, infotainment systems, reverse Google searches, Fusion Centers and real time crime centers are? You need to because law enforcement may be using them to investigate your cases. The presentation will offer an easy-to-understand explanation of several digital evidence investigation methods used by law enforcement to investigate crimes and locate individuals. From license plate readers to data collected by cars, participants will learn about the role that these forms of digital evidence play in investigations and challenges being made to these investigative tools.

Registration:
This program is part of the 2023 IDS Forensic Science Education Series. The webinars will be presented monthly and are free to attend. Attorneys who want CLE credit for attending will be billed $3.50 per credit hour by the State Bar. Use this link to register for all webinars in the series and attend any that are of interest.

Presenter:
Spencer McInvaille is a Technical Lead of Digital Forensics specializing in geolocation analysis at Envista Forensics. He holds certifications in telecommunications and mobile device forensics, such as Cellebrite Certified Operator, Cellebrite Physical Analyst, Certified Wireless Analyst, and Certified Telecommunications Network Specialist. Mr. McInvaille is also a leading expert in the area of Google Location History and Geofence warrants.

Mr. McInvaille has qualified and testified as an expert witness, in both state and federal courts in the areas mobile device forensics, historical cell-site location analysis, and other forms of historical location generated by Global Positioning System data and WiFi. Prior to his career at Envista, Mr. McInvaille worked as a Violent Crime Investigator in South Carolina and investigated murders and armed robberies. During his tenure, he helped establish his agency’s cell-site location and mobile device forensics positions. Mr. McInvaille used historical cell site location and mobile device forensics to assist in complex investigations. Mr. McInvaille has continued to gain experience and has extensive training in geolocation and mobile device forensics.
